Torrey Pines

We made it to La Jolla.  Scott was able to practice at Torrey Pines this afternoon.
We are looking forward to a new week and seeing all the craziness that Tiger brings...

Friday, January 21, 2011

Beautiful day for slow play! Scott has a fun team today. One man is 85 and a big red sox fan. Another guy is mid 70s. Both shockingly good players.
Three more rounds to go!
New amateurs everyday....
New course everyday....
Although, Sundays course was the course Scott played in Round 2.

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

First round tomorrow. Scott tees off at 10:45 on the Nicholas course tomorrow. He is playing with 3 amateurs. LOOONG rounds ahead.

Palm Springs

Event #2.  Scott played 36 holes yesterday with several veteren guys.  I believe he's only playing 18 today... but I'm not sure.  This is a different sort of week because it begins on Wednesday.  It is also a ProAm. The tournament will be on 4 courses over 5 days.
I hadn't planned to work this year but I am also back to work this week....
I think I may make a few rare appearances this year.

Sunday, January 16, 2011

We got a flight out tonight to Palm Springs. We will be in CA Sunday morning.

Saturday, January 15, 2011

I'm pretty sure Scott won't be featured in this story but it would be interesting to watch.  Here's a glimpse of Ticket to the Tour airing on NBC...  click here airing on Saturday.

Round 1, check!

Well... Round 1 is complete! Scott did awesome. He had one fairly major bad break and that was an unplayable lie (ended up with a double boogie) on his second nine hole.  He stayed in it though and finished with a birdie.  I'm so proud of him.
Here are a couple of pictures from today.... I was trying to be sneaky with my little camera. No cameras allow. :)
Scott and I are both fighting some kind of sickness.  Thankfully, he's on the tail end.... I'm just starting it.  At least he's feeling better.  He's currently at dinner.  I decided to stay in and try to rest.  The weather today was perfect.  The highs in the 80s with a little bit of wind when Scott first teed off.  The weather here is a little crazy.  It can rain in part of the island but not in other parts.  Thankfully we had no rain today.
Yesterday, since there was no golf being played, we were able to book the next several weeks of travel.  Thanks to Ms. Linda telling us about VRBO many, many moons ago... we will be renting houses for the next several weeks.  It will be great to stay with several of our other couple friends and hang out.  Life out here is much more hectic than it has been in the past.  We've already learned that you have to be very intentional with your time out here.
We are having a blast and are so thankful to be here.  This is definitely a whole different ballgame than I'm used to but I love it. We are so blessed... there is no denying it.

*My mom is laid up in bed, probably going stir crazy, after having surgery. So... Mom, I hope you're feeling better.  Can't wait til your feet are fixed and you can come hang out with us on the road! Love you!

Round 1 is underway. Scott tees off shortly. I'm going to attempt to get a picture of his first swing on the PGA tour... Not sure how that will go.

No golf today.

PTWA

Today was uneventful for Scott (due to major flooding)... but very eventful for me! We had our first PGA Tour Wives Association  event.  I've been looking forward to being a part of things like this since the very beginning of Scott's career.  He gets to walk out his dream on the golf course while I get to walk out mine through all of the volunteer opportunities in each community.

Today we went to Kamakau Elementary School and hung out with 130+ kids.  We partnered with a program called Blessings in a Backpack, which we will partner with several times throughout the year.
This unique program is designed to feed elementary school children whose families qualify for the federal free and reduced meal program, and may not have any or enough food on the weekends. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program.

The program is pretty cool and you can check them out here.  Stan Curtis, the founder of the program, flew in  today to hang out with us. He's a great man with a big heart...

It was a blast!  I can't wait to see what other great things the association has planned for the year!

--------------------------------------------------------------
On a side note... tomorrow the weather is suppose to be horrible.  We will be surprised if golf gets played.
Stay tuned.

View from lunch

Hawaii!!

5 hours is a big difference! I'm pretty sure Scott and I were both ready to go to sleep last night at 7:30.  We are staying in an awesome hotel and we have 3 dolphins swimming off of our balcony.  We both thought they were sharks at first! (<---View from our balcony)

Scott played his first practice round yesterday.  He's really excited and the course is awesome.  We both have had multiple run ins with some of the famous guys.... kinda strange.  One guy even came up to our lunch table and played with a friend's little one. I'm pretty sure all of us  just froze.  It was pretty cool.

Today (it's 8:13a here) Scott will play and practice.  He'll be playing an off site ProAm on Wednesday.  Several of the girls are going to the North Shore this afternoon to check things out.  The weather isn't suppose to be wonderful, except today, so I'm not sure we'll have a ton of beach time this week.
Regardless, we're having a blast and are so thrilled to be here!
This was 4am Knoxville time once we arrived. Yes we look rough... BUT we got our leis!

Check out the NEWS article in the Knoxville paper!
We just arrived in Hawaii. We had a crazy day that included sprinting through the airport. Thankfully we are here and hopefully our bags will have made it as well.

CYA Knoxville

Scott received a bag scale for Christmas. He's now weighed EVERYTHING we have with us (including my 13lbs purse). I can promise we did not pay overages on our bags today. Our bags were 49.5 lbs, 44.2 lbs (he added his golf shoes after he had it weighted, before security) and 50 lbs. Talk about perfect!

Lots of people have commented on my bridesmaid dress I am carrying through the airport.

We are so excited to be getting back on the road. We've enjoyed our time at home but will now be able to relax on the road. Home is no longer the vacation it used to be but that's okay.

It is currently 10:20 pm. We leave at 7:15 tomorrow morning. Scott has just now begun to pack. Awesome. Not to mention once he finishes I have to clean the two rooms his stuff has been scattered across since QSchool (in case the house gets shown while we are gone)....
Wouldn't you love to be us right now?!?

new VIDEO in videos tab. :) Thanks Dr. Rob Bell! You're awesome!

I can't believe it's 2011.  That makes me feel so old! I remember when I started the blog.  I wasn't sure anyone would actually read it.  I just hoped our parents would... from time to time.  Time flies so quickly.  We have so much to look back on and laugh at.  We have can honestly say that we have been taken care of and blessed in every possible way.  2010 wasn't all roses and butterflies but I wouldn't change a thing.  We have grown so much this year in who we are... Scott as a golfer, us as a couple. What a crazy ride it's been! To say that we are excited about 2011 wouldn't even come close.  Scott is walking out his dream as a 2011 Rookie of the PGA Tour.  What an accomplishment.  All of his work, dedication... everything he's given up to get here. It's all worth it.  "Lot's of people chase their dreams, few actually catch them..."

It's going to be a long, crazy road....full of laughter, heartache, and joy.
This is a year of dreams. Dream BIG.
Stay tuned for Life on the Road, 2011
