Beach for my Birthday! :)

We are leaving on Sunday for Myrtle Beach, SC on Sunday.  Scott wants to play in more events before 2nd stage of Qschool.  So, we are going down to play in a Carolina Winter Series event put on by the Hooters Tour.  The event is 11-3/11-5.  We will be home that Thursday night.

Now what?!

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support. We actually had a great, relaxed week. I never thought that I would say a week of q school was nice but it actually was. We really enjoyed spending time with Scott's aunt and uncle and I loved having Clay's wife and daughter. Scott was relaxed and I wouldn't have changed a thing!

So, what happens now? We will find out on November 3 where we will be sent. Scott was able to rank his choices and his first choice was Lakeland, Fl. We do not know where we will be going and have no say.... So we wait until the 3rd to find out. Second stage will begin on Nov 18.

We are thankful to be home and sleeping in our own bed. Tomorrow, Scott is playing in Bruce Pearl's tournament and seems to be pretty excited about it?! He will also be working his tail off until 2nd stage and may play in a winter series event between now and them.

That's our update for now! And for those who like Krispy Kreme.... Try the pumpkin spice! :)

the Ride of our Life

So, Scott will play Wednesday-Saturday this week.  He will play against 63 other guys.  At this point I am not sure how many guys will get through to 2nd stage but it will not be the top 25 like I thought.  As soon as I know what the magic number is, I will post it.  Scott tees off at 0811 on Wednesday and 0917 on Thursday.

Everyone has a good feeling about this week (everyone includes Scott, Clay and myself).  We are staying with family in Auburn which is nice to be out of hotels for a week and Clay's family is here as well.  Everyone is relaxed and pretty much just excited.  Unfortunately, q school has become something that I have dreaded in the past and sometimes still do.  It's a lot of pressure to sum up your whole year is only a very few rounds of golf. I am trying to take a different perspective on it this year... and just be excited.  Scott has worked his tail off all year and now it is time to show off how hard that really has been.  I honestly believe, 100%, that he is going to get through this stage come Saturday and I am so excited about that!! I am trying to hang on to the fact that we are not in control of this crazy life that we live.  God has planned this out of us from the beginning and all we have to do is walk out that plan as hard, frustrating, sweet, thrilling, sad, nerve racking etc. as it may be. Let the ride begin!

To follow qschool online go to www.pgatour.com/qschool click tab on left that for First Qualifying Stage. Click on Auburn University Club. Then click on the results tab.

What is QSCHOOL?

Well, this is the week. This is the week we talk about all year, First Stage of Q School.  This week we are in Auburn, Alabama.  Many of you know what Q school is or have some idea but for those who do not I will give you Jennifer's interpretation.
Q school or qualifying school is a tournament that decides someones status for next year.  Basically there are 4 stages of this tournament pre-qualifying, 1st, 2nd, and final stage.
Many players are required to go to pre-qualifying if they have never been to q school or if they did not finish high enough in previous years (I don't know exactly what you have to finish but Scott's first year he finished well enough that he will not have to do pre-qualifying again).  Pre-qualifying is one of those hoops you have to jump through and it prevents any random guy from paying is 5k to say that he went to q school.
First Stage is a four round event that does not have any cuts.  The top so many guys will advance to the next stage.  Also, this stage does not require caddies and allows push carts (random tidbit of knowledge for yall!)
Second Stage is also a four round event that does not have any cuts as well.  It is identical to 1st stage where the top so many will advance.  Scott has signed up to play his 2nd stage in Florida.  This stage requires caddies.
Final Stage is quite a bit different.  This stage is a 6 round event.  Making it to this stage is a huge achievement in itself.  The players that finish in the top 25 in this stage will receive their PGA Tour cards.  The next so many will receive their Nationwide Tour cards.  As long as you make it to final stage you will receive some form of at least conditional status on the Nationwide Tour. Conditional status means that you will get to play in   so many events based on how you finished in final stage of qualifying school.

I hope all of that made since.  If not, just pretend that it did.  Q school is one of the only ways to advance to the Nationwide and PGA tour.

Happy finish.

Scott is headed home as we speak. He is pretty happy with his round today 66.  Apparently he was +1 after 7 holes. I'd say that's a pretty good finish, huh?! :)

He will be back in Knoxville tonight and playing with potential sponsors tomorrow.  We will be heading to Auburn on Sunday for Qschool.

last one before Q school

This week I am on the road in Pinehurst NC with my caddie Clay Duerson. We are playing in the tarheel tour championship which will be our final tune up as we prepare for the first stage of Q school next week in Auburn Al. I play today at 1240 at Mid Pines golf club and then the next two days at Pine Needles Lodge which held the US Women's Open in 2007. I really like both of the courses and looking forward to a good week. The last few weeks Jen has not been on the the road with me due to an extensive wedding schedule that she had to attend too. It has got me thinking of what an incredible blessing it is to have her be able to travel with me as I chase my dream which has now become her dream as well. She is an incredible help mate to the point where there is no doubt that I would not be able to do this without her. She is a little under the weather this week and did not travel due to the forecast which calls for rain and cool weather, so please keep her in your thoughts as she recovers.

Tarheel Tour Championship

We have had a whirlwind of emotions this last week.
Scott is working harder than ever trying to prepare for Qualifying School.  He is playing in his last event before the much dreaded (at least I dread it) Qschool.  This week he is in Pinehurts, NC for the Tarheel Tour Championship.  He has played this course earlier in the year.  This is a different kind of week because the Tarheel Tour... well I can't tell you all what I really think of the Tarheel/Egolf Tour... but I will say that we wouldn't play it if there were many other mini tour golf options... but there isn't... so yeah... The event this week is TUESDAY-THURSDAY on 2 golf courses, Mid Pines and Pine Needles.  He also has Clay with him this week.  Clay has traveled with on and off throughout the year.  They are using this week to get comfortable together again before Qschool.

I, unfortunately, am home again... not that I don't like begin home but I am tried of being apart. This week I am fighting the flu/cold/I'mnotreally sure crap going around. So, as Scott is pumping vitamin C in North Carolina, I am drinking lots of fluids in Knoxville.

We will be leaving after church on Sunday for Auburn and the first day of Qschool is the 21st. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. This is the most important time of our year.

day 1

I would day that day 1 was sucessful even if he wasn't able to get all 18 holes in. He will re tee tomorrow at 0800 on 17 and will begin his second round at 0940.
He absolutely loves this course. It was designed just for him and not to mention that it sits right in a valley. We also love this event because we stay with some of the nicest people right on the 18th hole. Its just awesome!
He is excited to play tomorrow!!
